The Club “Friends of the Natural History Museum of Crete” is a non-profit body which supports the aims and actions of the Natural History Museum of Crete.

In parallel, the Club aims mainly at the growth and development of NHMC collections (scientific expeditions, excavations, sample purchase, etc), the conservation of the NHMC collections and exhibits, the wild life care, the protection of endangered species of flora and fauna, the editions on the natural environment of Crete-Aegean-Mediterranean, the organization of seminars, lectures, conferences, temporary exhibitions about the natural environment and the organization of Environmental Education and Lifelong Learning activities.

Member of the Club could become anyone (Greek and non-Greek individuals) by filling in a registration form and submit it together with the annual membership fee at the reception of the NHMC Exhibition Halls (Sofokli Venizelo Av. (Dermata Bay), GR 712 02, Irakleio, Crete, GREECE) during opening hours (MO-FRI 08:30-15:00 and WEEKENDS 10:00-16:00).

The members who are financially aware have the right to elect and be elected, have free entrance to NHMC Exhibition Halls, 15% discount on purchase from the NHMC shop, 15% discount to activities organized out of NHMC Exhibition Halls (seminars, excursions, etc.) and be notified by e-mail about NHMC events and activities.

The children of the adult members may register to NHMC KIDS’ GROUP «Agathopontikes» (i.e. Spiny mice). “Agkathopontikes” participate in several activities either with their family or individually, such as lectures on environmental issues, excursions, art creations, theatrical games, etc., which aim to sensitize children on the protection of nature.
