Natural History Museum of Crete is at a walking distance from the city centerand the Heraklion port.
There are not special bicycle parking facilities in NHMC but there is space outside the museum’s entrance for securing your bike with your own means. Bicycles are also available to tourists by the Municipality of Heraklion and can be borrowed from specific points of delivery and receipt which have been set up across the city.
The buses start from the Heraklion port and end at Knossos antiquities (NHMC is the fourth sightseeing bus stop). There are 3 lines: Green line: “Heraklion Hop on- Hop off” bus, Red line: “Creta City Tours” and Yellow line: “Heraklion Open Tour”
Driving to the Museum is easy through the Sofokli Venizelou Avenue (see map). A 24h indoor municipal parking is available just opposite to the Museum. In this parking (tel: +30 2810 285734) the cost for 2 hours is 2 €. For every extra hour the cost is 0,5 €. Entrance
Use the Sofokli Venizelou Avenue for entrance. There are 2 steps and a ramped path for entry with wheelchairs and pushchairs.

For a print map of the Museum, please ask at the reception desk.

Bags and pushchairs
These can be left in the small cloakroom behind the reception desk.

Photography
You can take photographs for personal use in the Museum. The use of flash is not permitted only in the gallery with live animals.

Lifts
All floors of NHMC are accessible by lift. A ramped path allows entry with wheelchairs and pushchairs to the toilet area.

Disabled visitors
NHMC has an inclusive admission policy ensuring free entrance to disabled visitors.

Wheelchairs
Wheelchairs are not available on loan.

Baby care
There is baby care facility at the women’s toilet.

Animals
Dogs, pets and other animals are not permitted in the Museum including our external garden areas. There is place at the Museum’s entrance to leash your dog by your own responsibility.

Food and drink
At the time being there is not available restaurant or café inside the Museum. There are plenty of them at a close distance outside the Museum. Food and drink are not permitted into the NHMC Exhibition halls.
