Dr. Georgios Sbokos (1975) practices Law since 2003 and teaches Environmental Law as a private lecturer at the University of Crete/ Dept of Chemistry since 2012.
He is the Head of the Environmental Committee at the Lawyer’s Association in his hometown Heraklion and he is currently the Coordinator of the EU project Life Natura Themis focusing in environmental crime mapping. He has contracted several private and public projects in the field of environmental law enforcement as well as in the field of legislative preparation and amendment.
In 2014 he addressed before the high Court Areopag a formal claim against the Greek State due to lacking EIA of the offshore hydrolysis of the Syrian chemical weapons. He has published three books and over thirty articles on environmental law and political ecology. He graduated the Law School of the Philips University of Marburg and the Albertus Magnus University of Cologne in Germany.
He attended a postgraduate course in European Environmental Law at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Koblenz- Landau University in Germany and received his Ph.D. in Public Law from the Athens Law School (2011). He speaks English, German and Greek.
